VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – So how are you going to kick off the New Year? How about joining almost 2,000 people for a jump into English Bay for the annual Polar Bear Swim. That starts at 2:30 p.m. and it marks the 90th year for the dip. These swims are taking place throughout B.C., like south of Crescent Beach in Surrey at 1p.m. where the clothing is optional!
If dipping in icy waters isn’t your thing, how about some classical music? Vancouver is playing a part in a tribute to Vienna’s world famous New Year’s concert at the Orpheum Theatre. The show features conductor Hans Richter, Hungarian singers and ballet dancers – that’s today at 2:30.
But if a family event is what you’re looking for, take your kids to see Safari Jeff and Shannon at the Telus World of Science where you can check out an American alligator, an albino bull snake and lizards.
