Derek Kelly missing persons case is now a homicide

By

100 MILE HOUSE (NEWS1130) –  A two-year-old missing persons case in B.C. is now being confirmed by Mounties as a homicide.  Thirty-one year old Derek Kelly was reported missing by his family in Langley on January 16th, 2008.

RCMP Corporal Dan Moscaluk say he was last seen at a New Year’s party at a property near 100 Mile House on January 1st.  “Seeing we have not a recovered or seen Derek Kelly or remains of, it is being investigated as a homicide.  In the investigation findings certainly do leave us with confirmation that Mr. Kelly did meet up with foul play on January 1st.”

To date, no charges have been laid in connection with the homicide. Mounties say they have identified several potential witnesses who have been approached by investigators, but for unknown reasons, have been reluctant to cooperate.

Investigators say they’re confident that the outstanding witness evidence could very well unlock the puzzle of what happened to Derek Kelly. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to come forward by contacting the RCMP North District Major Crime Unit at 250-649-3924, or their local police service. Those wishing to provide information and remain anonymous, can do so by contacting Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
