Fallen hero Private Garrett Chidley returns home

RICHMOND (NEWS1130)- The crowd was silent and bowed their heads as the procession carrying the body of Private Garrett Chidley made its way along Highway 99. Firefighters, paramedics and civilians gathered along overpasses to show their respect and gratitude to the fallen hero.

Vancouver firefighter Steve Bonato says it’s important to show support to our troops.  “We wanted to pay tribute to this fallen soldier specifically and to honour all the soldiers who have made sacrifices for us. We feel that is important.”  The Canadian flag was waving high and as cars passed they honked their horns.

Chidley, who was from Langley, was killed alongside three other soldiers and a Canadian journalist last month in Afghanistan.
