Canucks dominate Blackhawks at the Garage

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks extended their winning streak to four games following a 5-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at GM Place.  Roberto Luongo was at his best making 43 saves.

The Canucks were leading 3-0 by the end of the first period and needed the strong start with three of their top defencemen, Willie Mitchell, Sami Salo and Kevin Bieksa, all out of the line-up with various injuries.

Henrik Sedin had another multi-point game with two goals and one assist.  Henrik’s 23 goals this season is a new career high and his 74 points puts him four ahead of Alex Ovechkin in the NHL scoring race.  Mikael Samuelsson, Steve Bernier and Daniel Sedin also scored for Vancouver.

The victory pulls the Canucks even with the Colorado Avalanche for first place in the Northwest Division with 64 points.  The Canucks continue their homestand Monday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres.  The puck drops at 7 p.m.
