Olympic Torch Relay leaves Burnaby for final legs in Vancouver

By

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Pouring rain hasn’t stopped Olympic Torch Relay supporters from lining the streets to get a glimpse of the flame as it makes its way through Burnaby today.  The torch has now crossed Boundary Road into Vancouver for the final two days.

The relay passed by the Burnaby Village Museum at one point, giving it a bit of a time warp.  The historical perspective includes examples of 1924 style Olympic uniforms.  That was the year of the first Winter Olympics (with Canada winning gold in hockey).

Thousands of school children were let out of school to give the torch a loud and enthusiastic welcome through the streets of Burnaby.  It’s initial trip through Vancouver includes a stop at City Hall between 2:45 and 3 p.m.  For complete details, see the Torch Relay interactive website.
