Paralympic road closures start today

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – This mini-blast of winter weather is making the morning commute a little trickier, but driving around Downtown Vancouver is about to get even more challenging, thanks to the Paralympics.

The City of Vancouver is warning drivers to stay out of the core for the next couple of days due to a number of road closures.

At 2:00pm the Paralympic Torch enters the home stretch with a 24 hour tour of Downtown Vancouver which will see shutdowns along parts of Robson, Smithe, Howe, Granville and Bute.

Then there are the commuter arteries.  The Georgia Street Viaduct will be closed to traffic tomorrow from 10:00am to midnight — while the Cambie Street Bridge will be closed starting at 10 a.m. Friday to prepare for the Paralympics Opening Ceremony.
