VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – They’re seeing numbers they never imagined when they launched the bidding.
Gameday Auction and VANOC are working together to auction off Olympic items, and they say their expectations have been smashed.
“The signed competition bibs are super popular, I think one of them went for just under $10,000. That was for Alexandre Bilodeau’s bid, who was the first Canadian to win gold on home soil,” says John Curleigh of Gameday Auction.
Items are being added to the auction gradually….meaning lots of memorabilia has yet to be posted.
Right now Curleigh says the hottest thing is a Sidney Crosby jersey, just posted on Tuesday, which he says is going up by $500 every five minutes, and at this rate will be worth more than his car.
And because of such high demand, Curleigh says he can see the auction being extended beyond its original April closing date.
