Russian group suing VANOC and others over failed Olympic pavilion

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Olympics may be over for VANOC but organizers may be dealing with the Games much longer, at least in court.

VANOC, the government and the PNE are being sued by a group of Toronto-based Russian businessmen.  According to the Province newspaper, they are seeking damages for a failed pavilion at the Games.

Laura Ballance with the PNE says the lawsuit relates to a contract signed in May of 2009 to have a Russia House there.  Ballance claims the Russian group made a series of non-refundable deposits but pulled out just weeks before the Games.

Sochi World at Telus World of Science would end up being the only official 2010 location for the Russian delegration.
