Abbotsford bylaw boots gang members from restaurants

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Gangsters are about to feel a lot less welcome in Abbotsford, thanks to a new bylaw.  Council is allowing police to remove people from bars and restaurants, simply for being a member of organized crime.

It’s tricky and it’s about to get even more tricky for gangsters. The legislation requires establishments to allow police to quote “evict, and prevent re-entry by individuals whose conduct gives rise to a reasonable apprehension that they present a safety risk to other persons.”

B.C. Civil Liberties Association executive director David Eby tells the Province newspaper the city and police could be sued for interfering in people’s private lives.

Meantime, there’s word the province is about to introduce anti-gang legislation which will make secret compartments in cars illegal.
