Loyalty runs deep but only for some cell phone owners

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Your cell contract is up… so now what? A new poll looks at loyalty in the mobile phone business.

According to the survey conducted by Right Mobile Phone, a third of users stick with the same brand, while a quarter remain with the same network. 

People who stayed with their service providers were most likely to do so because of the hassle of changing their phone number.  Another quarter said it was because they liked the network, while the remaining 15 percent were used to their network or just too lazy to see what else is out there.

So, why did people switch?  In terms of network – only one in ten did so for a better deal, 39 per cent hoped for a better signal.  As for the type of phone – 59 per cent switched because they were bored, while 12 per cent wanted to keep up with the latest trends.
