What’s happening around town this weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Teach your kids about one of the most important components of our ecosystem.  There are two opportunities to release some salmon fry and send them on their way to the Pacific Ocean.  Help out at the Fingerling Festival at the Port Moody Rec Centre Saturday or the Salmon Send-off at Tynehead Regional Park Sunday.

A new Vancouver Archives exhibit offers you a chance to learn more about the city’s historic Chinatown.  “Chinatown, Past, Present and Future” allows you to examine 16 of the area’s most important buildings through the work of students at Emily Carr University.  The exhibit, which runs till May 31st, is being presented as part of Asian Heritage Month.

A positively creepy line-up of music is set for Saturday night at the Pacific Coliseum.  Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie are teaming up as their Gruesome Twosome tour rolls into Vancouver.  That begins at 7:45 p.m.

The Vancouver International Marathon returns Sunday.  You can still register, or just get out of the way.  Listen to News1130 traffic this weekend for a list of all the road closures.

De-stress at the Wellness Show at the Vancouver Convention Centre all weekend long.

Brooks and Dunn are in Vancouver for the last time.  The country duo has called it quits after 20 years, but they hit GM Place first with their Last Rodeo tour Sunday evening.

They confiscate it, now you can buy it!  It’s being called the most bizarre Vancouver Police auction to date.  The annual favourite is back at Able Auctions in Coquitlam Saturday and Sunday.  You can find anything from rice cookers to cellos to electronics.

Planet Ice is host to the Ridge Meadows Home Show.  That’s happening throughout the weekend.

It’s the last weekend to check out Vancouver Opera‘s production of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro.  There’s a Saturday evening performance at 7:30 p.m.
