Attempted kidnapping in Mission

MISSION (NEWS1130) – A 12-year-old Mission boy is recovering after being taken hostage in his dad’s truck. The boy was sitting in the vehicle when a man in his 20’s jumped in and told him to drive to a store.
RCMP Constable Fred Ritchie tells News1130 the man had a weapon. “He had a small, what the boy describes as a baton, a homemade weapon. The boy was not harmed, although he was afraid because the male had showed him the weapon.”
Staff at the store called police and the man was arrested.
