COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – The B.C. College of Teachers says it received a discipline report from the Coquitlam School District regarding substitute teacher Aleksandr Plehanov on March 5th. That’s five days before the RCMP began their investigation into reports that children had been touched inappropriately.
Three grade 3 girls in the same class of an undisclosed Coquitlam school notified their parents, who called the RCMP on March 10th. Plehanov was arrested on March 18th and charged with nine sex-related offences, including sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation.
The RCMP issued Plehanov’s photo yesterday, and a list of all the schools he taught at. The RCMP release listed his teaching dates between January 2007 and March 15, 2010–10 days after the B.C. College of Teachers received their report on Plehanov.
He taught at dozens of elementary, middle and high schools.
