Salvation Army: Donations way down with one week left in campaign

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – With less than a week left in its 2010 National Red Shield Campaign, the Salvation Army says donations are way down.  The Sally Ann says it is more than a $1.1 million short of its goal.

The charity was hoping to raise $2.75 million to help provide social services to Canada’s poor and homeless.  Jonathan Michel with the Sally Anne says the group still has 40 percent to go.  “Since 2008, demand for our services across the country has increased by 25 per cent on average.  Since there’s a demand in services, the outcome of that, is that there are fewer people giving.”
