Data plans for iPads in Canada offer same pricing across carriers

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Don’t expect competition to help you get a better deal on the data plan for the iPad. On the eve of the launch, we let you know how much you’ll be paying.

Fifteen dollars a month will get you 250 megabytes, and $35 will get you five gigabytes. That’s the cost for Rogers. Turns out, Bell introduced the exact same pricing yesterday.

Both carriers have so far rejected an unlimited pricing model like what you can get south of the border.    To get all you want from AT&T, it’ll only costs Americans $30.

If you haven’t pre-ordered online, you can line up at Apple stores, Best Buy and Future Shop starting at 8:00a.m. tomorrow.

It’s unknown just how long lines will be to get the new device, as many Canadians eager to get their hands on the iPad, already went south to grab one.

Remember, you’ll be shelling out $549 for the 16 Gig Wi-Fi version to a max of $879 for the 64 Gig Wi-Fi – 3G model.
