Jaywalking grandmother and grandson in critical condition

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A grandmother and her six year old grandson are in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck while jaywalking at Kingsway and 12th in Burnaby Tuesday afternoon.
Sergeant Ted De Jager says it was not a hit and run as the driver and passenger waited until emergency services arrived at the scene.
The grandmother, believed to be approximately 60 years old was transported along with her grandson to a local area hospital where they are listed in critical condition. The passenger in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries from debris, while the driver was not hurt.
Alcohol did not play a role, however the speed of the vehicle when it struck the victims has yet to be determined.
