MONTREAL (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps have beaten the Montreal Impact 2-1 on Wednesday. The Caps are now undefeated in seven games.
The game didn’t start out promising for Vancouver. The Impact tallied early when Tony Donatelli sent a header past Jay Nolly in the third minute to give Montreal the 1-0 lead.
Vancouver remained on their heels for most of the first half. In the 25th minute, Montreal’s Filipe Soares was robbed by Nolly after a shot from the six-yard box.
The Whitecaps came out as a different team in the second half. In the 66th minute, Janicki scored on a beautiful strike from just outside the penalty area to tie the game.
The game looked as if it would end in a draw, but in extra time Martin Nash found Luco Bellisomo who buried a volley far side. That goal would give the Whitecaps the 2-1 win.
Nash’s assist was his 100th career point.
