Shots fired at the Peace Arch Border Crossing

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Several shots were fired by customs officers at the Peace Arch Border Crossing just before noon today.

Mike Milne with US Customs and Border Protection says a man using the NEXUS lane approached the window, and began acting strange. “The officers ordered the driver, who was the sole occupant, out of the vehicle. The driver refused and dangerously accelerated the vehicle southbound.  One CBP officer fired his service pistol because of the imminent and apparent danger to the general public.”

No one was hurt, but the suspect initially managed to speed off. He was later captured by State Troopers and is now in custody. He is facing several charges, as investigators are trying to determine his motive. Milne won’t say whether the man was Canadian or American. His name has not been released.
