Man running from mall security lands a 99-year-old in hospital

NANAIMO (NEWS1130) – RCMP are asking for your assistance in identifying a reckless thief who shoved a 99-year-old Nanaimo man to the ground while shoplifting at a local store.

Police say a man was on the run from mall security after stealing DVDs from a Wal-Mart when he pushed the senior because he was in his way.

The elderly man ended up in the hospital with a broken hip, where he is now awaiting surgery.

Anyone who has information on the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP or Crimestoppers.
