VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s not just food that can lead to weight gain!  News1130 is chatting with the woman behind The Hormone Diet, who says cosmetics are making us fat!

Chemicals used in everyday products, like creams and moisturizers and shampoos may be the cause behind our expanding waistlines.  Dr. Natasha Turner says hormones dictate every aspect of our weight loss, how our bodies burn and store fat, our cravings and our appetites.

She says both genders are affected differently.  “The men, that have the largest waistline or the most amount of belly fat tend to have highest amounts of these chemicals in their body.  In pre-menopausal women, they’ll tend to have more weight gain around their hips, thighs and breasts.  For post-menopausal women, it tends to be more, like men, around the belly area.”

Turner adds at least 80 per cent of people are already hormonally imbalanced thanks to things like sleep deprivation and stress.
