Canucks 0-3 in pre-season

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Make it three losses in a row for the Canucks, who played most of their stars, but still fell 3-2 to a depleted Edmonton Oilers squad.

The Oilers, playing without two of their three top rookies, Taylor Hall and Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, scored early – finding the back of the net just over two minutes in, off the stick of Ben Ondrus.

Edmonton took a 2-0 lead in the second period, after a pass from behind the net would deflect off of Aaron Volpatti and past Roberto Luongo, giving Chris Vande Velde for his first goal of the pre-season.

With Cory Schneider in net, the Canucks evened things up in the third, getting a goal from Daniel Sedin about three minutes into the frame. Another came from Peter Schaefer, shorthanded, about five minutes later.

But the Oilers put the Canucks away for good, thanks to the eventual winner from Gregory Stewart.

The Canucks look for their first pre-season win Saturday night, when the Anaheim Ducks pay a visit to Rogers Arena.
