Lions rookie handed CFL weekly award

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – After lighting up the Calgary Stampeders with his return game, the CFL has recognized Lions running back Yonus Davis, naming him the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

Davis caused the Stampeders fits after the Leos 29-10 win Saturday.  He put up 113 yards on six punt returns and 131 yards on just two kick-off returns, including a 72 yarder to open up the game.

Davis was named the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Month for August.  Benefiting from Davis outstanding game was kicker Paul McCallum, who booted six field goals and was named runner up to Davis’ award.

Rookie Linebacker Solomon Elimimian was named runner-up for Defensive Player of the Week, after notching 11 tackles and a sack.
