Canucks’ jobs are on the line

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks visit the San Jose Sharks in pre-season action and while it isn’t the last game of the Canucks’ pre-season, it could be last call for a few Canuck hopefuls. One indication is that the Canucks are icing a fairly young team, and a roster that includes several bubble players.

Former first round draft pick Cody Hodgson needs a good game or he could be starting the season with the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose. Hodgson will skate tonight on the team’s first line with Raffi Torres and Bill Sweatt.

Another key battle is for jobs on the third and forth forward lines. Former Canuck Brendan Morrison, still without a contract, seems to be up against young winger Jeff Tambellini for a spot. Morrison will center a line with Tambellini and Guillaume Desbiens. Swedish goaltender Eddy Lack will start in goal for Vancouver and is expected to play the whole game.

The faceoff is at 7:30 tonight.
