VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A man from British Columbia, inspired by Terry Fox’s 1980 marathon, has become the country’s top cancer research fundraiser. Forty-nine-year-old Jim Terrion of Prince George has collected $503,000 since 1991 in pledges for the annual Terry Fox Run.
Terrion is deaf, so his mom Faye spoke to us on his behalf, and says he heads back to Prince Rupert every year for the Terry Fox Run, because that’s where he first began his fundraising. She says he takes three weeks off work every year to canvass every business in town.
Terrion is such a Terry Fox fan, he walked across Canada in 1990, in his memory.
