The Lions need the break

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – B.C. Lions’ coach Wally Buono says it was the perfect time to give the team a full four days off. The Lions will play two games in six days next week when they visit Winnipeg to finish their home and home with the Blue Bombers Monday and return to Vancouver for a Saturday night home game with Edmonton.

The Lions’ boss has used his time wisely. He says that with the current NFL roster window, the Lions can increase their practice roster to a total of 12 players and new players will be arriving this week to at least be evaluated for next season.

B.C.’s current extended break also allows the team to rest some injured players including veteran kicker Paul McCallum who was hurt in the Lions’ 16-14 win over Winnipeg last Saturday at Empire Field. McCallum’s hamstring injury will be updated this week and Buono is confident in turning to backup kicker Sean Whyte if needed.
