Abbotsford Heat kick off second AHL Season

By

MICHIGAN (NEWS1130) – The Abbotsford Heat kick off their second AHL season tonight with a stop in Michigan. They’re facing the Grand Rapids Griffins, which is the Detroit Red Wings’ farm team.

Head Coach Jim Playfair returns for a second season behind the bench, after guiding the Heat to a 39-29-5-7 record for a third place finish in the North Division.

There are 15 returning players (two goalies, six defenders, seven forwards), but only one player, Cam Cunning, finished in the top five in team scoring. In fact, only three of the Heat’s top 10 point producers are back.

In addition to tonight’s game against the Griffins, the Flames’ farm team plays the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday and Toronto Marlies, Monday.
