Whitecaps advance to the semis

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps are headed to the USSF Division 2 semifinals after a 2-1 aggregate goal win over the Portland Timbers.
In the second leg with Portland, the Caps lost 1-0 but had a two goal cushion coming into the game.
It was a very physical game between the two teams with both the Caps and Timbers getting equal chances.
In the 49th minute, James Marcelin scored for Portland, but the Whitecaps were able to shut the Timbers down for the rest of the game to get the 2-1 aggregate victory.
Vancouver will now play the Puerto Rico Islanders in the semifinal, with the first leg starting on Thursday. Then the Caps will return home for the second leg on Sunday, October17th.
