Halloween to be held on traditional date

October 31st falls on a Sunday this year and that seems to have sparked some confusion about when trick-or-treaters will be knocking on your door.

It’s up to each municipality or town to decide whether to move the date costumed kids take to the streets.

If you’re in Halifax send your little ghosts and goblins out on Halloween.

HRM spokesperson Shaune MacKinlay says council visited the issue the last time Halloween fell on a Sunday, and they decided it made no sense to move a holiday.

“Well, Halloween is Halloween and if it happens to fall on a Sunday that’s
the date,” she said.

She says council hasn’t bothered to toy with it this time around.

Meanwhile, in P.E.I. Charlottetown council did debate it, though they ultimately voted to keep it on Halloween.

A Christian group spoke out against the decision saying having Halloween and the holy day don’t mix.
