Hockey night in Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – A busy weekend for hockey fans in the Lower Mainland.

NHL:

The Canucks try to make it two straight wins as they take on the San Jose Sharks at Rogers Arena tonight. It’s the first meeting between the two teams this season. San Jose currently sits in eigth place in the Western Conference standings, the Canucks are tied with Colorado for 1st place in the Northwest Division.

AHL:

If you’re in the mood to see the Canucks’ top prospects, Abbotsford is the place to be this weekend. The Manitoba Moose play the Heat tonight and tomorrow night in American Hockey League action. Both games will be close to sell-outs as local fans get their 1st look at the Canucks farm team.

WHL:

The Vancouver Giants kick off a two game Alberta road trip with a game in Edmonton tonight against the Oil Kings. The Giants are in Red Deer tomorrow night. The Chilliwack Bruins are at home tonight against the Portland Winterhawks.
