Don’t get buried under an avalanche of holiday spending

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Buyer’s remorse is not the best way to start off the New Year, so how do you keep your spending under control?

Jeff Schwartz with Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada says using cash or debit is always a good idea. “That will eliminate you going further into debt. But if you have to use credit, only spend what you can afford to pay off in the first 60 to 90 days.”

He suggests you do comparison shopping to avoid spending more than you have to. You could also use reward points; or instead of buying someone a gift, you could offer to shovel someone’s driveway.
