ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) One of the last things anyone needs is for a great holiday to be ruined by a fire in your home, especially one that could have been prevented.
Ted Main with the Abbotsford Fire Department says they will be displaying their annual fire prevention Christmas wreath. “It’s got 31 green bulbs on it and our plan is to hopefully keep it green for the whole (month of December). But if there is a preventable residential fire, we will be putting a red bulb up, following the day the fire happened.”
He says if you’re buying a live tree, make sure it’s fresh without dry needles and placed away from heat and fire. Also, make sure to use outdoor rated lights and cords when putting up your lights.
