DELTA (NEWS1130) – Police are concerned about a rise in the number of domestic violence and suicide calls. Apparently, it’s typical during the Christmas season when depression and stress start taking their toll.
We’re supposed to be happy and in the holiday mood, but a lot of people are not enjoying ‘comfort and joy’ right now.
Historically, Delta police have noticed an increase in calls at this time of year. Sergeant Paul Eizenzimmer says it’s not just in Delta, it’s a national and even an international issue at this time of year. “People are dealing with tough economy or family problems. It seems to be the point of the year where a lot of things come to a climax.”
He is urging those who are feeling the pressure to seek help from family, friends and even support services or groups.
