Giants rough up Silvertips 6-1

By

EVERETT, WA. (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants ended their longest losing streak in over five years, thanks to a 6-1 victory in Everett.  The last time the Giants dropped five in a row was in November of 2004.

The G-Men were in control from the outset, as they led 3-0 after the first period and 5-1 after two frames.  Ten seconds after the Silvertips made the score 5-1, the gloves hit the ice.  Once the players finished throwing punches, all five Giants skaters earned game misconducts and four Silvertips were ejected.  The teams racked up 262 minutes in penalties.

Teal Burns had a goal and two assists in his second game with Vancouver after being traded from the Portland Winterhawks.  Goalie Mark Segal turned aside 29 of 30 Silvertips shots.

Vancouver plays in Chilliwack on Sunday at 5 p.m.
