Big third period pushes Giants past Bruins

CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants scored three times in the final period to knock off the Bruins in Chilliwack 6-2. Nathan Burns had two of those goals, while Dalton Sward finished off the scoring.

Sward also finished with two goals, while veteran Giant defenceman Neil Manning and new centre Teal Burns each had three assists. Spencer Bennett and Zach Hodder with his first of the year also scored for Vancouver. Kevin Sundher and Dylen McKinlay on a penalty shot were the only Chilliwack skaters to beat Mark Segal in the Giants net. The Giants outshot the Bruins 43-20.

The Bruins only played with 15 skaters. General Manager and Head Coach Marc Habscheid had two Czech players playing at the World Junior Hockey Championship, four players injured and two at the World Under-17 Challenge.

Vancouver plays two games in Prince George next weekend.
