VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-1 to extend their win streak to eight games.

The two teams had pretty good chances at both ends but could not bury a puck in the first 20 minutes. The opening frame ended in a scoreless tie.

Daniel Sedin didn’t wait long to net his first of the night.  Sedin hooked up with brother Henrik for his 23rd of the year.  It was 1-0 Vancouver just 30 seconds into the middle frame.

Ryan Kelser scored next making it 2-0 just one minute and 34 seconds later.  Daniel potted another one shortly after, courtesy brother Hank and Alex Burrows.

The period ended Oiler Ales Hemsky pushing a loose puck under Cory Schneider’s pads with three-tenths of a second remaining.

To start the third, Kesler tipped a Dan Hamhuis point shot for his second of the night.  Soon after he capped off the hat trick with his third of the night.

Alex Edler got the final goal of the night making it 6-1.  Daniel’s assist on the goal marked his 600th point all-time.

The Canucks takes on the Detroit Red Wings Saturday at Rogers Arena.  The puck drops at 7 p.m.
