Daniel Sedin named first star of the week

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The accolades just keep rolling in for the first place Vancouver Canucks.

Daniel Sedin has been named the NHL’s 1st star of the week after he led all players with five goals and seven assists for 12 points, helping the Canucks post a 3-0-1 record.

With the great week, Sedin increased his season points total to 54 (25 goals, 29 assists) in 41 games, tied for third in the league scoring race with his brother Henrik (9 goals, 45 assists).

Daniel has notched points in 18 of his last 21 games with a +16 rating in that span, during which the Canucks have posted a 17-1-3 record.

The Canucks kick off a five-game road trip and are off to Long Island where they’ll take on the Islanders Tuesday at 4 p.m.
