NEW YORK (NEWS1130) – The Canucks pay their 1st visit to Madison Square Gardens in two years as they take on the Rangers tonight.

Vancouver kicked off their five game road trip with a 4-3 shootout win Tuesday night on Long Island against the Islanders.

The Canucks stunning 18-1-3 run in the last eight weeks has them atop the NHL standings, 3 points up on the Red Wings and Flyers.

Vancouver has also gone 17 games without a regulation loss which is a newfranchise record.

Cory Schneider gets the start in goal for Vancouver and he has an opportunity to match Luongo’s now-franchise record 11-game regulation unbeaten streak. Schneider has a record of 8-0-2 this season.

The Rangers saw their three-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the Canadiens on Tuesday and will be looking to get back on the winning track against the Canucks.

Tuesday’s loss also snapped the Rangers five-game home unbeaten streak (4-0-1) which dated back to mid-December.

The Canucks and Rangers met just once last season with Vancouver taking a 4-1 victory at Rogers Arena back on November 3, 2009.

The Canucks won’t get much rest following this game as they have a date with Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals tomorrow night.

The Canucks and Rangers tonight and game time is 4pm.
