Police want witnesses of Kelowna man being kicked in head

KELOWNA (NEWS1130) – The video of a Kelowna man being kicked in the head while under arrest only shows a piece of the puzzle.

Constable Ian MacDonald with the Abbotsford Police Department, which is now investigating the case, says they need witnesses at the bank across the street in Kelowna to share their story.

He tells us, “There were numerous individuals in that particular bank who were clearly observing the incident as it unfolded. For whatever reason, bank staff and other patrons have yet to make contact with us in any way.”

A member of the city’s media captured part of the incident on January 7th. MacDonald says, “The video… that’s a couple of minutes in time. I think we need to paint a more complete picture because the ramifications from this investigation will be pretty importatnt.”

A weekend rally is planned in Kelowna to demand action against the RCMP officer accused of kicking Buddy Tavares.
