Oh brother! Canucks win big in Texas

By

DALLAS, TX (NEWS1130) – Christian Ehrhoff’s blast from the point on the power play just over three minutes into the second period gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead and would stand up as the winner as the Canucks beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 tonight in a frozen Dallas, Texas.

Special teams were the difference for Vancouver. The Canucks went two for three with the extra attacker and also added a short-handed goal. The Canucks have now scored eight power play goals in nine periods versus the Stars this year. They improve to a perfect 3-0 versus Dallas this season.

The win, the third in a row for the Canucks, moves Vancouver back into sole possession of first place in the NHL with 73 points.

The win was the first for the Canucks on their annual family road trip. Vancouver players have their  brothers and sisters along for the two-game trip. The siblings have thus far brought the Canucks better luck than their mothers did last year when Vancouver went 0-1-1 versus Los Angeles and Anaheim.

Cody Hodgson made his NHL debut. Hodgson, the Canucks’ first-round choice (10th overall) in 2008, registered two shots on goal and three hits in 9:36 of ice time.

Aaron Volpatti left the game in the second period with what looked like a shoulder injury. He did not return.

Vancouver heads now to Phoenix for a tilt with the Coyotes  tomorrow.
