Canucks defenseman Keith Ballard out 3-4 weeks

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis has confirmed that defenseman Keith Ballard will be out of the Canucks lineup for 3-4 weeks with a mild knee sprain.

The Vancouver GM confirmed the news on his Twitter account saying that Ballard suffered only a sprain in his knee.

Gillis wrote, “results of Ballard’s MRI show a mild knee sprain. He will rehab with our training and medical staff. He is expected to be out 3-4 weeks.”

Help could be on the way for Vancouver. Sami Salo played the final game of his conditioning stint with the Manitoba Moose.

“He is moving along slowly, just the way we thought he would, and we’ll see how he does,” said Gillis.

Salo will not be with the team when they host Anaheim. It’s also still unclear whether or not he will be in the Canucks lineup Saturday night.
