Independent panel looking into HST

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An independent panel reviewing the pros and cons of the HST is now taking submissions from the public.

They are also looking into the prospects of abandoning the HST, and going back to the old tax system, involving the PST.

HST Parliamentary Secretary John Les says the panel will issue a report in April. “Their mandate is to advise British Columbians on the various options around the HST, with the referendum coming up later this year.”

The panel wants to know how keeping the HST or switching back to the GST/PST system will impact consumers.

For more information on how to make a submission, go here. Submissions can be sent electronically to submissions@bchstinfo.ca, or faxed to 604 775-0727.
