Canucks finally get a win in Minnesota

By

ST. PAUL (NEWS1130) – Manny Malhotra had a goal and an assist and Cory Schneider made 27 saves to lead Vancouver to a 4-1 win over Minnesota.

It wasn’t the prettiest win, but it was a win nonetheless for the Canucks as they went into the Xcel Energy Center and left with the victory for the first time in three tries this season.

Vancouver registered just one shot on net in the third period, which was Ryan Kesler’s empty-net goal while shorthanded, his 33rd of the year. With the goal, Kesler passed Sidney Crosby for second place in the NHL goal scoring race.

Malhotra’s goal was his first since December 28th, a span of 23 games. Alex Burrows went pointless, ending his scoring streak at 10 games.

Vancouver and Minnesota are now tied in their season series at two games a piece. The two will face one another two more times this year, with both games happening at Rogers Arena.
