Liberals are mum on LGBTQ question

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Not a single Liberal leadership candidate has answered a question issued by the BC Teachers’ Federation. Every NDP candidate did.
The federation posed the following question: “Where do leadership candidates stand on LGBTQ issues in school.” LGBTQ stands for lesbian-gay-bisexual-transsexual-queer.
With Pink Day on the way, BCTF President Susan Lambert is surprised not a single Liberal candidate jumped at the opportunity. “The survey was put out at the beginning of February. It was out for two weeks. People were reminded to respond,” she says.
She is more surprised that Christy Clark ignored the survey, given she founded Pink Day in BC.
Lambert points out homophobia is still a huge problem in schools. She says kids are being taunted and are suffering, and more pro-active solutions are needed besides awareness.
