Mayor: Some rental suites at Olympic Village could be sold

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson says he’s open to selling some of the rental units in the Olympic Village.
But he says that doesn’t include any of the suites set aside for affordable housing. “As the sales are going so well, I think Mr. Rennie is looking at the opportunity to sell more of the rental than expected, which would be great. It’s really up to the receiver whether that happens and looking at the best financial return.”
He’s relieved the condos are moving now, but says the city will only break even on the project if the market stays strong in the years ahead.
