Update 9:30 a.m.: Service appears to be restored to most 3G phones.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A problem on the Rogers and Fido networks caused a service outage for its customers in Vancouver this morning. All smartphones (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry) appear to be affected.

Rogers admits wireless service was down for people with 3G devices in Metro Vancouver, Whistler, and several other areas around the province. The company suggests customers try using 2G for service, but that network appears to be heavily congested.
