VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – When Mount Baker erupts, it’ll be messy — but Vancouver will likely avoid the worst of it.
That’s the prediction from a UBC volcanologist who says Baker is overdue for an eruption. When it does blow, we should avoid the worst of it, but our pristine city will likely be covered in a fine layer of ash.
Researchers tell the Vancouver Sun they should be able to predict when the next burst will happen by watching to see when the peak shakes and vibrates from all the magma moving back and forth inside.
As Mount Baker is overdue for an eruption, we’ll find out how Vancouver might be affected when that happens.
