Canucks blanked by Predators

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Goaltender Pekka Rinne turned aside 29 pucks to lead Nashville past Vancouver 3-0. The Canucks have alternated wins and losses for the past dozen games.

Blake Geoffrion scored the game winner a couple of minutes into the third period. Roberto Luongo made 26 saves but failed in his bid to notch his 300th career victory.

The game featured the top two penalty killing teams in the Western Conference. Vancouver’s once potent power play was 0-for-2 in the game and has failed to score with the man advantage in its last four games, going 0-for-9. The Canucks finish a six game home stand with three wins and three losses.

Vancouver had help on the out of town scoreboard as both Detroit and Philadelphia lost.  The Canucks have a four point lead on the second place Red Wings in the Western Conference.

For the overall NHL lead, Vancouver still has a three point advantage on Philadelphia, but the Flyers have two games in hand.
