Sharks spurned by Schneider

By

SAN JOSE, CA (NEWS1130) – Cory Schneider stopped 44 shots in 65 minutes and three more in the shootout to lift the Canucks past the Sharks 5-4. Alex Burrows scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Canucks the win.

The Canucks rookie goaltender won his fourth straight start, as he had to make several spectacular saves on odd man rushes by the Sharks.

Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist and leads the NHL scoring race with 86 points. Daniel has tied his career best for points in a season. His brother Henrik had two assists and is tied for second with Steven Stamkos of Tampa with 81 points. The Sedin’s have tallied fourteen points on the road trip, which wraps up in Calgary on Saturday.

The Canucks have scored the first goal in a game 44 times this season. It may be a coincidence, but the NHL league leaders have 44 wins.
