Jodie Emery advocates for marijuana legalization bill in US

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – One of BC’s most well-known marijuana advocates is taking a trip south to support Bill 15-50 coming up in Washington’s State Legislature that aims to legalize, tax and regulate pot.

Jodie Emery says she’s gained some notoriety there, following her husband Marc Emery’s conviction for selling seed to American customers. “I am testifying on the differences between Canada and the US, and about the harm done to the families by the drug war, with my husband, of course, being an example that they want me to discuss.”

She says a lot of medical marijuana users live in Washington and the state’s economy would greatly benefit from pot legalization.

Marc Emery is currently serving five years for trafficking in a jail in Georgia.
