The winter that never really was

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Many folks bundled up and braced for a wild winter, but the West Coast wasn’t walloped as bad as other parts of the country.  News1130 is looking back on the season we feared for no reason.

It was chilly when you think back to November when we had -20 and that was with the wind chill of course.

Meteorologist David Jones with Environment Canada says we didn’t come out of the season totally unscathed.

“I’m looking back at the statistics for Vancouver Airport and we had four snowfall events, that’s a decent winter here.  This winter’s snowfall events were a little bit different though the snow never stuck around.  The snow fell, and then it turned to rain or melted very quickly.”

Now that spring has arrived do we get a chance to thaw out at all?  “Given La Nina is persisting, the odds again are stacked in favour of a cooler spring.  That’s about all we can say,” adds Jones.
